A world class composer, songwriter, producer & engineer. James Vine is a one-stop-shop for musical excellence.

James’ work has reached millions worldwide - whether his own aliases, producing for other artists or via bespoke compositions for film, TV & adverts.

A skilled engineering technician - he’s mixed & mastered big releases for labels & artists.

About James

James’ musical story began as a prodigious cellist. Completing all his grades at an early age, he received an unconditional offer to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to specialise in the instrument at an elite level.

However, after developing a deep fascination for electronic music, composition & production - James instead chose to study music production at Leeds College of Music, where he could use his classical training & theoretical knowledge but apply it to contemporary music.

At LCM, James honed his technical production skills & craft as a songwriter & composer - resulting in the launch of his first big musical project: ENiGMA Dubz - the bass music alias that has since seen support from BBC Radio 1, UKF, Kiss FM, releasing multiple albums & touring the world as a DJ.

James’ skillset goes way beyond bass music. Large portions of his production & composition work has been for other artists – where he has been the creative force behind releases on Sony, EMI/Universal, Columbia & RCA Records.

Alongside this, James has created tracks for ad campaigns including Speedo, Garmin, New Balance & Intersport.

Subsequently - he also tackled long-form bespoke composition to moving picture, including for the BBC One documentary, Paul Merson: Football, Gambling and Me - that was aired prime time with all the music composed & produced by James.

Alongside his creative endeavours, as an engineering technician James has mixed & mastered numerous big releases, both digital & vinyl, with credits including Damon Hess, Anto & DUPLOC.

“Music is my passion, my expression and my escape. Nothing evokes more emotion to me than sinking my teeth into a new project & the challenges that come with each creative endeavour. Whether it’s commercial, dance, classical, electronic, soundscapes or something from my bass music roots, I’m ready to take it on.” - James Vine
